New York City-based FreshDirect, founded in 2002 and one of the first online-only grocers, opened its first brick-and-mortar store over Memorial Day Weekend in Southampton, NY’s East End Village.
In a press release, FreshDirect said the store was “designed to evoke the charm of a classic farmers market” and features “an abundant selection of local product, prepared foods, wine, and beer.”
The location will also serve as a micro-fulfillment center for the company, which is “exploring opportunities for same-day delivery for the Hamptons region…” FreshDirect currently provides next-day delivery to the New York Tri-State area.
